The course of studies in the clinical years

Dear Students, Please note that the information on this website is based on previous years and is not an official information on behalf of the Faculty. There may be changes in the program described below.
At the beginning of the fourth year, you will receive information from the teaching secretaries and the student committee regarding the method of placement in the clinical years. The applications will be carried out by a computer program where you can join each round as individuals, couples or threes and rank your priorities.
The first part of the fourth year includes a course that combines content learned in the pre-clinical years with the practical part and the clinic. Continuing studies in the clinical years, almost all of them, are conducted in small groups in hospitals affiliated with the Technion's Faculty of Medicine. At the end of the fifth and sixth years, the final exams will be held.
Fourth Year
Integrative  ●  ICM  ●  Internal Medicine  ●  Surgery (+ elective) / Pediatrics

The integrative course is divided into 2: Integrative and Introduction to clinical medicine, each week consists of 4 days of study in the faculty and one day of the ICM in the hospital. The course lasts five months.

Integrative course
The integrative course is made up of 3 sections, and at the end of each part there will be a test on the material studied in that section. The students are required to pass each cluster individually, with a score of 65 and above, and in each cluster, the pathology section should also pass 65 or higher. Matavim B are intended for the disabled only, and the final grade is the determining grade. In the failure of pathology alone, Moed II is done for pathology only. The final passing of the integrative course is over 65 - each part of the course must be passed separately.

Introduction to clinical medicine (2 weeks)
Takes place in the internal Department immediately after the end of the integrative course.

Inernal rotation (10 weeks)
This is the first clinical course students experience, which forms the basis of medicine. The tour is very intense and saturated with content. During the course of the course, the student will practice taking an exam and physical examination, taking blood, participating in a round of doctors, watching and assisting in medical procedures and more. At the end of the course, the student will be tested for the contents of the course in two stages: (1) an oral test of a clinical case in which the student takes an exam and a physical exam, and (2) a day later a computer test.

Surgery (6 weeks) or pediatrics (8 weeks, 1 week of introduction + 7 weeks in the hospital)
After the internal rotation will split into two blocks - half a cycle will begin a round of surgery and half a cycle will start a round of children. Anyone who starts a children's tour will have a week of introductions before the start of the tour.

2 weeks elective (to the students that completed surgery)
After an internal rotation there are two weeks of electives. The teaching secretaries will infrom you in which hospital you will do the rotation.
